Here's another update on the Ellie model! Unfortunately, I lost the majority of the progress since the last update when I was transferring data from my old laptop to my new one (yep, managed to get a new one! Sexy 1920x1080 screen unf). But it's okay, you win some and you lose some. I'll just work on it again later
Also, I'm going to "rant" a little about the Ratchet fandom. Well, not rant as such, more just... talk about how I'm feeling about it. I've found myself drifting away from the fandom quite a bit. I still appreciate the game from an aesthetic and technical standpoint but I don't feel I have a deep connection with the story and characters anymore like we all used to have. When I play the games now, I no longer find joy in the storytelling. I find myself really drawn to the visual and technical parts- that lighting there, this normal map here, the way things deform when animated and how the water is created and interacts with the character, particle effects... I don't know if it's down to the fact that the more I engross myself in the games industry as a 3D modeller, the more I begin to appreciate a game from a different side of the coin?
That is not to say the stories are not good, they are. In a campy Saturday-morning-cartoon kind of way. As much as I led myself (as did others) to believe years ago that the story in Ratchet and Clank is serious, it is not and has never been serious. Nexus was a terrific game visually and music-wise but the story and characters still remained awfully stereotypical (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just reminiscent of the Saturday-morning-cartoon feel you know?). I don't thing IG will ever take the storytelling of RaC to the next level because it just isn't the kind of game for that. However I firmly believe they will do all it takes to make sure this game hits us hard visually.
I don't know. Just my pointless evening ramblings
