MURO-Lost at Sea by Gashu-Monsata MURO-Lost at Sea by Gashu-Monsata
FFF I can't beleive I forgot to log in AGAIN whilst drawing this xD This time though, there is NOTHING tweaked in Photoshop, it's all Muro here.

Now I'm starving, I'm off to eat :la:

EDIT: If you want to see how I drew the sea (hehe, that's funny :la:), then check out my new speedpainting video here: [link]

I am absolutely amazed by this piece, honestly. It just completely blows my mind, I can tell you spent a lot of time working on it, and it really shows in the amazingness.

If you wouldn't mind some constructive criticism, though I've no right to give any, and you asked for none. So you can just not read it if you want.

The thing I noticed that throws the image off a bit (and only a little tiny bit) is what appears to be a dock next to the boat? I might be wrong, since I'm not really a boat person..
But, anyways, if it is a dock, it has to lead someplace, right? And my first thought to that was "well, yes, but since it's dark and stormy you wouldn't see where it leads." Then I remembered about the lightning near the boat, it would create an outline or silhouette of wherever the dock leads.
If it really is a dock, and if you did make an outline/silhouette of the place, then I'm really extra sorry for mentioning it, and I suppose all the other shading in the picture (which is superb as well, most of the people I know would not have done as well on the shading as you did) sort of hid that?

But you don't even have to listen to that, because you didn't ask for criticism...

Oh thankyou! Haha, I really don't mind critism, I mean after all, art is all about improvement, right? ;)

It's not actually a dock, it's supposed to be the tail of the sea monster looping outwards, kinda like the Loch Ness monster? Actually, I'm not really too sure what part you're talking about, haah XD I just looked, and I have a feeling you might mean the bit that's coming out in front of the boat. That's the stern, although I really should have reffed the pic XD But thanks so much for the advice!

And let me tell you something. NEVER feel ashamed to give constructive critism. If the person can't take what you wrote, it's their problem, you're a really helpful person and you shouldn't be afraid of trying to help ;) Like I said, art is about improvement, a person who is serious about their art will take your advice to heart whether they asked for a critique or not :)

And again, thankyou for the helpful comment! :la:

This is amazing! I love the way you make the waves especially. I've thought about asking people how they made incredible Muro's like this, when I realized it wasn't them, it was their vision. I never think of things like this; tipping the waves with white nightmare, the detail of the serpent and the way it splashes out of the water and the waves roll up around it. But anyways, amazing! lol that was a real babble!

Thankyou! :D Well, I usually like to look at other people's art, and observe their work to see how they are formed, then try to emulate their techniques myself :la: But I've always just done lots of small dark squiggles on the body of reptile-like creatures. Not sure why :S

Yeah, I suppose that's what I need to try to do.

I do have one question though; I get how you do the breakers, foam and water-spray, but how did you do the actual water?

Oh! The water! All I did was sketch out the wave form, then make a new layer on top of that and painted a flat dark greeny-blue surface, then on top of that, blend in greens, reds and blues (because the ocean is never just one colour, it's a mixture of thousands of fantasticly tiny colours, with the light being bent in all directions, like through a glass prism!). But also remember, the colour of the ocean will reflect the colour of the sky. So, if you have a blue sky, the ocean won't be as grey... it'll have more of a light green-blue tint to it ;)

What tool did you use to sketch the form and paint the layers of the ocean's colors?

OK, well thanks! Reason why I'm askin' is cause those waves really are incredible and I'd like to try and emulate that IF I can .
